Source of Funds for Turkish Citizenship by Investment
Last updated: · Reviewed quarterly and after every regulatory change
The best source-of-funds file tells one story without asking the reviewer to make imaginative leaps. It shows where the wealth came from, how this particular money was created, and every account it crossed before reaching Türkiye.
That sounds obvious. It becomes difficult when sale proceeds move through a spouse, dividends sit in a holding company, or crypto is converted two days before a $400,000 property payment.
Three reviews, not one
A Turkish citizenship investment can face three distinct evidence checks:
- The financial institution identifies the customer and beneficial owner.
- The investment route proves the required amount and payment path.
- The citizenship file connects the investment to the applicant.
The anti-money-laundering framework requires regulated institutions to understand the customer, the transaction and, where risk calls for it, the source of assets or funds. Official guidance also expects activity to fit the person’s occupation, business history, finances and risk profile.
This does not create a universal “six documents” rule. Each institution can ask follow-up questions based on the file.
Source of wealth versus source of funds
Source of wealth explains how the applicant became financially able to invest: a career, business ownership, investments, inheritance or family wealth.
Source of funds explains the specific $400,000 or $500,000 entering the transaction.
An entrepreneur may show fifteen years of company ownership as wealth, but the immediate funds could be a recent dividend. The pack needs both layers: corporate history for context, then the dividend resolution, tax record and bank credit for the exact money.
Evidence by source
Salary and savings
Use employment agreements, recent payslips, tax returns and statements showing savings building over time. A sudden balance without the earlier accumulation weakens the story.
Business income or dividend
Provide company registry extracts, ownership proof, financial statements, board or shareholder resolutions, tax evidence and the transfer from company to personal account. If the company pays the transaction directly, obtain written acceptance of that structure before sending funds.
Sale of property or a business
The sale agreement is only the start. Add ownership evidence, closing statement, tax or registry record and the bank credit matching the buyer’s payment. Explain material deductions and currency conversions.
Inheritance
Use the probate or succession record, death certificate where required, estate distribution and bank receipt. Names and relationships should match the citizenship document set.
Gift from family
Document the relationship, signed gift instrument, donor’s lawful source and the full transfer trail. A loan and a gift have different legal and tax effects; do not label one as the other for convenience.
Investments or digital assets
Include purchase history, broker or exchange statements, sale records, tax treatment and the withdrawal to a bank account in the applicant’s name. Multiple wallets, mixers or unexplained peer-to-peer transfers will require more evidence and may be rejected by the receiving institution.
Build the pack before opening the transaction
Start with a one-page funds map:
| Step | Account or asset | Amount | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Origin | Property sale | $620,000 | Deed and sale contract |
| Receipt | Applicant account | $603,500 | Closing statement and bank credit |
| Conversion | USD transfer | $430,000 | FX and wire records |
| Destination | Turkish transaction | $430,000 | Bank receipt and route document |
Amounts will not always match because of tax, fees and exchange costs. Reconcile the difference instead of hiding it.
The Döviz Alım Belgesi guide explains the foreign-exchange evidence for a property purchase. For route selection, compare real estate, bank deposit and investment funds.
Avoid these preventable flags
- unexplained third-party transfers;
- several new accounts opened just before payment;
- documents with different names or dates;
- round-number loans without agreements or repayment terms;
- screenshots where official statements are available;
- cash deposits with no underlying transaction record;
- sending funds before the receiving institution clears the pack.
Easy Turkish Citizenship reviews the route and chronology before the transfer instruction is issued. We do not promise that a bank will accept a file, because institutions make their own compliance decisions. We can make the evidence easier to follow and identify the gaps while the money is still movable.
Ask for a source-of-funds pre-check and describe the origin in one sentence. Do not send unredacted statements or identification documents through ordinary email until a secure exchange is arranged.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there one official source-of-funds checklist for Turkish citizenship?
No single public checklist fits every bank and transaction. The citizenship file, bank compliance review and property or investment payment evidence overlap, but they are not the same review.
Can the investment come from a company account?
It may be possible when the applicant can prove ownership, authority, the commercial reason for the payment and the path into the personal investment. Confirm the receiving institution's requirements before transfer.
Can a spouse or parent provide the money?
A documented gift can be acceptable in some cases. Expect proof of relationship, the donor's source of wealth, a gift declaration and a clean bank trail.
Are cryptocurrency proceeds acceptable?
The issue is evidence, not the label. Exchange records, wallet history, tax reporting and bank acceptance must connect the original acquisition to the fiat transfer. Check before liquidating or sending funds.
